Sabrina’s has a passion for providing a safe and affirming environment for neurodivergent people (Autistic, ADHDer, Dyslexic, etc), recognising neurodivergence as a natural difference that requires acknowledgement and support, rather than a disorder that needs to be fixed. She supports children, families and schools to understand and support neurodivergence through individual sessions, parent and family support, and collaboration with schools and the systems surrounding the neurodivergent person.
This is done through supporting you to understand your individual neurodivergence and recognise your unique strengths, whilst collaboratively develop strategies to manage the stress and triggers of living in a neurotypical world. The focus in sessions with Sabrina is on safety, self-regulation, self-advocacy and problem-solving rather than masking or attempting to eliminate neurodivergent behaviours.

As a queer woman herself, Sabrina understands and appreciates the mental health and wellbeing benefits of being able to live an open and full LGBTQIA++ life. She understands that LGBTQIA++ people seek counselling support for the same reasons as everyone else, and will make no assumptions that sexuality, sexual identity or gender identity are problematic or causing distress. However, she is also aware of the many challenges that can be faced, and the discrimination or sense of feeling unsafe that can occur.
Her focus will be on supporting you as an expert of your own experience, with your own goals and being guided by your needs, whilst also having the understanding of the context that might be at play.
-
Sabrina believes that everyone has the right to choose how they express and identify their gender, which might be different to the sex they were assigned at birth. Her focus is on supporting transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender questioning folks on this journey.
She will support you to explore your gender and find a gender role that feels comfortable for you. This can include exploring the associated social, legal and medical transitions that you might like to go through as well as managing any distress or anxiety associated with discrimination, minority stress or marginalisation.
Sabrina provides support for young people and adults, as well as parents, family and allies.

-
Some folks prefer to use the word “disabilities” while others prefer “diverse-abilities”. Whichever language people prefer to use, Sabrina believes that everyone has different abilities, including those that are physical and invisible to the eye, but that one group of people aren’t more able that others. Despite this, she is aware of the impact of ableism and living in an ableist society. She will provide a safe, affirming and inclusive environment for people to come as they are and work on the goals that are important to them.
-
With experience working across hospitals and private organisations, Sabrina has an understanding about the impacts of long-term illness and chronic pain. Whether a new diagnosis or lifelong experience, she can support people to improve symptoms and pain by supporting the nervous system to feel safer and alter how the brain processes pain sensations and symptoms. With a focus on implementing strategies and working towards goals in line with their values and identity, and alleviating the mental health impacts of their illness, her belief is that people can move from survival and struggle to acceptance and improved quality of life.
-

Accessibility
Sabrina is committed to providing a website, service and environment that is accessible to all people of all abilities. She believes that everyone deserved the opportunity to access resources and participate in a welcoming and safe environment.
This support is cultivated from the initial contact, including various options for communication and booking sessions, sessions located in a disability accessible, neurodivergent friendly, and inclusive clinic, photographs and video available to assist you in knowing what to expect, and a space focused on meeting your individual needs including sensory, movement and communication.
Please note, photographs are currently of our prior clinic as we are in the process of setting up in our new permanent clinic. Updated photos and videos will come soon.
Should you wish to see photos of the clinic prior to this, please reach out!
Sensory needs and movement
Sabrina would like to support and accommodate people in the room, encouraging people to listen to their body signals and choose how they would like to be in the space. This includes various seating options and being able to move as needed such standing, doing the session on an exercise ball, throwing a ball or balancing on blocks.
Other supports including having music or noise in the background, heating and cooling options, alternative light options, tools to meet sensory needs and a variety of fidgets.People are also invited to bring in personal items such as their own fidgets, toys, or sensory soothers.
communication
Before someone is ready to communicate, they need to feel safe and ready to engage. Sabrina focuses on creating a safe space for people to unmask and be free to be themselves authentically. This can include putting aside the typical social rules that require small talk before or after sessions, or eye contact which can cause anxiety, distress or can feel physically painful.
Whilst psychology is traditionally seen as “talk therapy”, Sabrina encourages people to use whatever mode of communication they find helpful or supportive. This can include art and drawing, typing, using an iPad, using music, singing, play, role play and key signs.
Areas for improvement
Whilst Sabrina will endeavour to be inclusive, affirming and ask if the environment is suitable. However, she recognises that there may be areas where accessibility could be improved, and she encourages and welcomes people to self-advocate and let her know any accommodations or changes that could help them feel safe and comfortable.
